Grammar note (regular): Regular verbs and adjectives conjugate predictably. Before 어-series suffixes, vowels may contract (가 + 아 → 가, 보 + 아 → 봐), but no consonant in the stem changes. If the final vowel of the stem is ㅏ or ㅗ, use 아; otherwise use 어. Consonant-final stems: 먹 + 어 → 먹어; vowel-final: 가 + 아 → 가.

How it’s used
가르치다 means to teach; the learner takes 에게 or 한테: 아이들에게 영어를 가르쳐요. 가르쳐 주다 is also used for telling someone information, though 알려 주다 is more common: 전화번호 좀 알려 주세요.
Common mistake
Confusing 가르치다 (to teach) with 가리키다 (to point at): ✗ 손가락으로 지도를 가르쳤어요 → ✓ 손가락으로 지도를 가리켰어요. Native speakers often mix them up in speech, but they are different words.
