Grammar note (regular): Regular verbs and adjectives conjugate predictably. Before 어-series suffixes, vowels may contract (가 + 아 → 가, 보 + 아 → 봐), but no consonant in the stem changes. If the final vowel of the stem is ㅏ or ㅗ, use 아; otherwise use 어. Consonant-final stems: 먹 + 어 → 먹어; vowel-final: 가 + 아 → 가.

How it’s used
만나다 means to meet, both by plan and by chance; the person takes 을/를 (친구를 만나요) or 하고/와 (친구하고 만나요). It can also mean dating someone: 우리 만나는 사이야 (“we’re seeing each other”). When meeting someone senior, the humble 뵙다 is used: 처음 뵙겠습니다 (“nice to meet you”).
Common mistake
Marking the person with 에게: ✗ 친구에게 만났어요 → ✓ 친구를 만났어요 or 친구하고 만났어요.
