How it’s used
덥다 is for hot weather and for feeling hot. It is ㅂ-irregular: 더워요, 더웠어요, 더운 날, but 덥고, 덥습니다. Hot to the touch is a different word, 뜨겁다, and spicy is 맵다.
Common mistake
Using 덥다 for hot food or drinks: ✗ 커피가 더워요 → ✓ 커피가 뜨거워요. And for spicy food: 이 음식은 매워요.
